SUNY New Paltz NAEA Appreciation Award Winner
We will be voting on the next winner at our December 8th meeting!
This semester, our student chapter has decided to honor students who exhibit exceptional ability, attitude, dedication, and appreciation for the arts and art education. If you would like to nominate a recipient, place your nomination slips can be picked up and dropped on in an envelope on the NAEA bulletin board outside SAB206.
May Award Winner: Kim Dalsgard
As the Spring 2010 semester comes to a close, the NAEA Student Chapter would like to recognize Kim Dalsgard. Kim has worked tirelessly this year, and show how always finds time to stay active in the student chapter. She has volunteered at both the NYSATA state and regional conferences, exhibited and volunteered at the Juried Art Show, and has attended more chapter meetings than any other chapter member. Her glowing smile and kind words are always there when you need a pick me up. Not only is Kim active in the art education community, she is an active artist, and a brilliant one at that. With her compassion and deep live for the arts, it is without a doubt that Kim will become a truly successful art educator. Congratulations Kim!

March/April Award Winner: Afton Virgilio, class of 2011
Afton's constant vigilance in the face of surmounting due dates speaks highly of her dedication to the Art Education department and NAEA. Her warm smile is always a welcome site in the SAB, and she never hesitates in answering questions her peers ask of her. Afton is always on top of her game and pulls through with stellar enthusiasm and effort. She is an inspiration for all aspiring art teachers. We are proud to present this award to Afton Virgilio for all that she does and will continue to do.

February Recipient: Sunwha Gil, class of 2010
Sunwha is an international student from South Korea, studying art education. She has a BFA in Oriental Painting and has been attending SUNY New Paltz for three and a half years. Sunwha is an extremely dedicated and outstanding student. Currently, Sunwha is student teaching in the Newburgh area, and she recently hosted a workshop at SUNY New Paltz on Oriental Ink Brush Painting. Despite a language barrier, Sunwha is a model student and has most certainly earned the NAEA Appreciation Award.
